Ryan Schoenike is the Co-founder & President of OceanCycle, a social enterprise reimagining the circular economy through sourcing, certifying and reusing materials to prevent ocean plastic pollution. Ryan has always had a passion for tying sustainability to business. Prior to OceanCycle, Ryan co-founded an eyewear company and released one of the first ocean plastic products on the market. In his quest to end ocean plastic pollution, Ryan has traveled around the world engaging across the plastic value chain working with local community collection networks up to fortune 500 companies. Before his work in ocean plastic founded a national campaign to educate Millennials about economic issues and worked in the solar industry.

Major efforts are underway across the globe to remove plastic marine debris from the environment. Aside from landfilling this material or incinerating it, what can be done with it? This session will feature panelists that are leading research on the recycling of these materials and explore strategies for aggregating meaningful volumes of materials from otherwise isolated clean-up efforts.
